Like Looking in a Mirror

Small eyes staring back at me
Want to turn back, but I already see
You hold the future in your hands
But it doesn’t seem pretty to me
Should I resist or let it be?

I feel the weight in my hands
Time slipping through fingers like sand
But is this really me?
Ugly problems out of my hands
All of it, I can hardly stand

Turn back and look at you
What a dreary view
Get close and lock fingers
I don’t know if I can look at you
What can I do?

Jump back touching fingers
Can I believe it’s mine and hers?
What should I think of you?
I loosen tightly my fingers
And put you down here

I can’t tell what’s me
And what’s the reflection anymore
Sometimes I’m scared to look
Maybe I should drop it
Let the shards fly
And bring reflections to the air
